Francisco de Toledo

Francisco Álvarez de Toledo (10 July 1515 – 15 August 1582) also known as ''The Virreinal Solon'',〔Compared with the Athenian who like Alvarez de Toledo conducted a reformer and legislator work.〕 was an aristocrat and military of the Kingdom of Spain, who was the fifth Viceroy of Peru.
Toledo was born in Oropesa. He held the position of viceroy from November 30, 1569, until 1 May 1581, a total of eleven years and five months. Although for the majority of historians he was the most important of the viceroys of Peru and has been praised as the "supreme organizer" of the immense viceroyalty, to give an adequate legal structure, strengthening important Indian institutions, around which revolved the administration of the country for two hundred years,〔Roberto Levillier: ''Don Francisco de Toledo, Peru supreme organizer. His life, his work ().'' Buenos Aires, Espasa-Calpe, 1935 to 1942〕 for others he was the great tyrant of the Indians for keeping the mining mita of the Inca Empire and have executed Túpac Amaru, the last Inca of the Neo-Inca State in Vilcabamba.〔Luis E. Valcárcel: ''The viceroy Toledo, great tyrant of Peru: a historical review.'' Lima, National Museum Press, 1940. However, this point of view should not be interpreted Peruvian historian as opposed to the Argentine Levillier, but as complementary.〕 He died in Escalona, aged 67.
